well it took more than a few months to finally have my trip to NYC planned...and almost 10 years since my last visit...I will be in the city from Nov 9 thru 13...I already have great tickets to see BOOK OF MORMAN...I also will be seeing THE KING AND I...SOMTHENING ROTTEN...and possibly FINDING NEVERLAND...but I do not have tickets yet for those three shows...as I can only see 4 shows while in town due to performance schedules...any ideas on what the 4th show should be if not NEVERLAND?...
( I have a feeling as to what you all might recommend, but I am curious still)

All good choices except Neverland. There is so much better art and craft here, don't waste your time with Neverland. Do you want only musicals or would you consider plays?
I highly recommend Fun Home. Hard to recommend a show if I don't know your taste, but Beautiful and An American in Paris are also excellent.

I don't know where you're from, but if I were you, I'd try to see things that wouldn't be "coming soon to a theatre near me" so skip Neverland, Mormon and Rotten and Miserables, and see things in NYC you can't see at home, like Hand to God and maybe something Off Broadway.

well I knew FUN HOME would get mentioned...and quite frankly I have absolutely no desire to see that show...I have listened to some of the score on SIRUS XM BROADWAY...and I am not impressed sorry to say...AN AMERICAN IN PARIS would appeal to me for sure...and yes I want to see musicals while in the city as I haven't see a Broadway musical show in ten years...I miss Broadway!

Here's another vote for Fun Home. Even though it will be touring, you'll be missing out on Sam Gold's masterful staging for the round if you see it outside of NYC.
Edit: Posted just as you mentioned not being interested in Fun Home. Spring Awakening is another great option.

Actually I want to see the Broadway productions and not bus and truck companies...(no offense) ...of musicals...I have many chances to see shows in Los Angeles and Orange county but they are touring shows...

Spring Awakening.
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
I would say to give Fun Home a chance,because it is staged in the round at Circle in the Square. On tour it will be designed as the usual proscenium arch.
The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. Heretical to say on here, but skip FUN HOME: what's great about it you can mostly glean from the OCR. I found it well-written but an extremely small show in every sense.
Instead get yourself to AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. The phenomenal dancing, the extraordinary design work, the staging that never ceases to be enthralling, THIS is a Broadway show in the old mold that will seldom come along again.
My second suggestion would be to resell your SOMETHING ROTTEN tickets and head to CURIOUS INCIDENT instead.

Doesn't the concept of there being a mold mean it has come before and will certainly come again? Seems like a show that "breaks the mold" is the outlier, no?

CURIOUS INCIDENT has me, well, curious indeed...and I also thought AN AMERICAN IN PARIS looked amazing on the TONY'S...damn I wish I had more time in NYC...:)

CAROUSEL (the '94 revival)
SHOW BOAT ('94 revival)
ON THE TOWN (the '14 revival)
Shows with classic scores, story told through spectacular dance sequences, ravishing stage-filling sets, gloriously indulgent period costumes, and the desire to send the audience out on a cloud of joy. No, these shows don't come along very often at all, so when a newly-conceived show like AAIP comes close to matching the glory-days of these properties, I stand up and salute, and want to tell all my friends.

Yes, If you have seen Falsettoland it covers much of the same emotional levels of Fun Home and they are a far superior set of shows. Fun Home ends with all eyes dry in the house after a couple of tragedies. It is surprisingly ineffective even with the great performances.
Your hunch is correct.

I don't get the hype with Fun Home. With the exception of Cerveris, I thought the show was dull with a very mediocre score. Cerveris was fantastic in the role, but I just had a hard time connecting with anyone else. I thought Finding Neverland was fun, but nothing ground breaking. I thought I would hate it, but I enjoyed some of it, especially Laura Michelle Kelley. The new production of Les Mis is just awful, in my opinion. With the exception of Alfie Boe and the girl currently playing Eponine, I thought the show was nothing close to the original. I'd vote for Spring Awakening, Hamilton (Pray you can win the lottery), or Curious Incident. Those are your best options.

I too loved ON THE TOWN both times I saw it-- were it still playing, it would be tops on my list of recommendations to broadwaybaby as well.
