As of 12pm today (officially...though I was able to get into the CityTix system earlier...is that usual?), single tickets for the 2016 season of NY City Center's Encores! are now on sale:
Performance Schedule: Wed - Thu 7:30pm, Fri 8, Sat 2 & 8, Sun 2 & 7
Just bought a pair of tickets to 1776, but I must say I faced major sticker shock when I reached the checkout page, due to newly inflated prices ($35 for the cheap seats) and fees (for two tickets it was $5.00 in Facilities Fees and $13 in Service Fees -- what do these fees even mean???). I wasn't sure if I could get either of those fees removed (or lessened) by purchasing over the phone. Yet, given that I'm not confident I'll be able to see a professional production of 1776 anytime in the near future, I decided to bite the bullet.
I bought tickets for all shows last week, but was shocked at the limited number of tickets available in center mezz or orchestra. Are there that many subscribers that the only tickets left are side/rear orchestra & mezz?
I've been a subscriber for the past few years and am super excited about this season!
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

When Kristin Chenoweth performed there a few years back, they not only had an advance sale for subscribers, but also one for American Express card holders. There was nothing left by the time EveryMan was allowed to purchase.
Although not a subscriber, I go to quite a few and was peeved that people who support Encores had no chance against card holders who went to City Center for just that one show.
But it's all about the money and City Center positions itself as an organization always teetering on the edge of insolvency.
Carnegie Hall also has a double advance sale. First half of the week for subscribers and donors and the second half for MasterCard holders. If you don't fit into either group then I hope you like the balcony.
3NU, thanks for the info! By the way, I loved that production of It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman that Encores did a couple of years back (that's in your photo). Just wonderful!
Tickets are way too expensive for me (considering you're up the nosebleed section). I sprang for Do I Hear a Waltz because I really want to see it on stage and probably won't see the other two unless they pop up on discount sites.
