Has anyone else noticed a recent surge in Les Miz advertising? I know they released their new white background aesthetic a while ago, but I feel like in the past few weeks, I've started to become inundated by marketing for the production. Is this foreshadowing anything?

Well, they have a bunch of new cast members, including a Valjean who was in the 25th anniversary concert (widely available on PBS and DVD/Blu-Ray!), so that might explain it.

Absolutely, LizzieCurry, but even still, I keep seeing stuff with Ramin and even Caissie and Will. Much of the advertising I'm seeing is production-focused; not casting-focused.
It's also time to start the push for advertising for the holiday season. Tourists who plan out their itineraries and don't rely on TKTS/rush/standing room, etc, are going to begin making those plans soon.
there is not much correlation between a show's ad buys and when it will close. In fact, statistically, most shows reduce buys as sales slump, rather than increase. Also, if you try to use this metric, then you'll have trouble solving BOM, as an example, which has had big ad splashes consistently in spite of months of advance.
It depends on what Alfie does, but don't look for the amount of advertising as an indicator.
I hope Les Miz holds on for a little longer. Someone pointed out a little while ago that if Les Miz holds on for a year or so (which would be impressive), and then both Cats and Saigon come back, then you will have 4 Mackintosh shows on Broadway. It's the 80s all over again.
Strangely they have been advertising his Broadway performances in big colour splashes in the middle of the theatre listings in the major papers in the UK - possible they want to remind any American tourists what they can see when they get back home or just using it to get a different slant on advertising but as they have got the 30 years running tag line this year and it seems to be selling well - no sales at the Tkts booth and rare to see any cut price promotions it is a bit odd - as good as he is its if Brits were to fly from UK to see Les Mis on Broadway I expect more people would have done it for the previous Ramin.
I know different groups of friends who are returning to NYC specifically to see Alfie. No idea if that is a driving force for many, but it definitely matters a lot to some people.
LES MIS will stay until June/July, head back out on tour in Sept. & the MISS SAIGON revival will open at the Imperial in Oct. 2016.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I heard that the creative team does not take a salary unless the production meets its weekly nut, and there is a rather large discount for rent of the Imperial. That said, it is supposed to close late summer/early fall 2016.
It really is an awful production, Cam Mac really needs to leave his shows alone.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Add my wife to the list making the trip expressly to see Alfie.

Since the regional rights were pulled already, are there going to be two tours, then? Or will there be one that closes or merges with the new?
Also, from the reaction tonight, it seemed like a lot of people were there just for Alfie. He developed quite a crossover fanbase post-La Bohème, though, which can't hurt Les Miz at all.

I actually am surprised this production has last this long.I thought they were going to close it by now. Does anyone know how much the weekly running cost is? I imagine it's rather high, with the huge ensemble.
There have been sooo many Les Mis productions and revivals, it's ridiculous. I was excited to see that Alfie Boe was joining the cast, because I've been an admirer of his for a while now, and he's fantastic. It's weird that you're seeing posters/etc that still have old cast members on them.
