Getting excited for our visit in less than a month for our NY fix. (and to be frank, few friends in the real world want to hear about it)

Tues 9/1 - An American in Paris (this is also the slot for the most-skippable)
Wed (mat) - The King & I
       (eve) - Fun Home
Thu (early) - Seth Rudetsky's Chatterbox
       (eve) - The Curious Incident....
Fri (eve) - Hamilton
Sat (mat) - Something Rotten
      (eve) - Hand to God

A couple of questions on our other plans, notably "The Chew" taping on Thurs and The Whitney & High Line on Friday.

Has anyone here attended a taping of "The Chew" - and do you have any suggestions? (ranging from "arrive xx early" or a great place to eat near the studios.(We'll be at the second taping on Thurs)

For the Whitney & High Line - how far does the park extend these days? Can you walk out to that park at the same level from the museum? (and again - any breakfast or lunch recommendations at either end)

I. can't. wait.

Mark, I went to a Chew taping in June, but the early show.  It doesn't really matter how early/late you arrive.  Where and when you got your tickets automatically assigns you a number and that is how they bring you into the studio. At least that is how they did it for my show.  We had to stay after our initial taping for them to film a couple of host chats for "Best Of' shows for the summer.  I did win a cookbook.  As far as places to eat, can't recommend anything.  But the neighborhood (Columbus Circle & Central Park) you are in has many choices to pick from, walking a couple of streets in various directions.

Whitney High Line, we are members, I recommend eating at Untitled, great food MAKE RESERVATIONS!!!!

No the park and museum are 2 separate things. different levels, elevators are right there. GET THERE EARLY!!! LINES are LONG!!! I don't know wait times because members skip the line.

The High Line now runs up to 34th street.

Thanks for the info!

I'll check out reservations for Untitled. Luckily, anticipating crowds, I became a "social" member of the museum.

As for The Chew - we immediately went to a waitlist and have not received tickets yet. Was that the way it worked for you. (I jumped on tix when they were made available on their website)

Mark, If you are on the waitlist then you don't have tickets.  I was not on the waitlist for The Chew but for some other tapings, that eventually became open. If others who have tickets give them up or more space is available then your status will change to tickets. It is all based on how many people are ahead of you on the waitlist.   You need to check 1iota (they send out the tickets via email) daily and go to your account to see if you are off the waitlist.  You need to respond to it immediately once it opens up.  I had a Priority ticket for the Chew but was still like number 100 to enter the studio.  If all else fails and you really want to see this, try for standby at the studio.

Will you have time for a Thursday matinee?

"Will you have time for a Thursday matinee?"

Depends on my tix for the Chew. I normally don't look for Thurs Matinees (no desire for Phantom or Mamma Mia, or most of the long-running hits) - am I missing something?

Thanks for your help, AntMan!
I'll keep on checking iota. It was strange. The date went, seemingly immediately from "coming soon" to "sold out" - and then a couple weeks later opened up again for about 3 days. I jumped on it within a few hours of that window.  (Before changing to "Sold Out" the first time, there was an explicit request for groups, so that may have filled the studio)

All this seems a bit surprising, since it was my understanding that this really isn't that hot a ticket.

If it doesn't happen, no biggie - I'll just wait until a later visit.
Instead, I'll perhaps see if there's a good exhibit at the NYPL and grab lunch at Bryant Park, or check out the Frick (as I'm perpetually threatening to do but haven't yet), or something else....

Assuming Seth's in town, we'll need to be at Don't Tell Mama at 5:00 anyway.

"was C 301 and 302 for The King and I too close??" Those seats are fantastic. I sat in C 306-307 on the other side of the aisle in the front row of the center section. The view was phenomenal. The show unfolds right in front of you at eye level as if you are sitting on a plush cushion in the King's palace. You will NOT be disappointed.

MarkBears, your schedule looks great ... one fantastic show after another. I have seen everything you have scheduled and I wouldn't change anything. Have fun!

What a great line up!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
