The extreme ends of the spectrum are worth noting. The King and I's huge increase is obviously because of Kelli's post-vacation return. But jeez...Hedwig. Yowza.

Wow...almost 80% for Chicago.   Ouch for Amazing Grace and On The Town.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I have a feeling that several shows on this list will be done come September's wrath.

Is it safe to speculate Jersey Boys closing around January now? It seems pretty likely that a Jujamcyn show will have to close to make room for Falsettos. This show has consistently had not so great grosses. I highly doubt Jordan Roth will produce a show in a non Jujamcyn house. Thoughts?

ChildofEarth: Yes, On the Town and Amazing Grace. Which we've known for weeks. Thanks for your insight.

So...is Amazing Grace just going to hang on til Labor Day, just to say they did?

Luv2shop, seems more likely that Gent's Guide gets kicked out for Falsettos.

Id have to agree with neon. The Walter Kerr would be a more suitable house for Falsettos, unless they plan on some big star casting. Of course they also put Side Show in the St. James, so who knows.

I thought about the Kerr as well, it is more of a play house and might be a better fit for a revival of an original musical like Falsettos that is less well known. I know GGLAM has been doing great recently, and if it stays that way I wonder if it wouldn't be forced to close. It is the Summer though, things could change fast. Jersey Boys has done well in times of a tourist seasons like holidays but I feel like in general it hasn't been selling well for a while.

Your sarcasm is always appreciated. However, you've likely missed a few.

neonlights, The last few weeks GGLAM has been 85% capacity or above. I would consider that doing well. Better than Jersey Boys has been, although that is in a bigger house.

Capacity is not what matters. The gross is what matters. According to this article, GG's nut is about 600k per week. Which they have not been making.

That is true, I just think maybe it could be either show closing if not both. I'm sure Jujamcyn has other shows in their docket to bring besides Falsettos.

I think Gentleman's Guide has been holding up. I refuse to believe it is over 550, but i think its more in the 500 range therefore its still making money. It should stay til January

The Times article linked quotes that the running costs are "often less than $600,000 a week." It's a pretty safe bet to say that they don't get too much lower than that, or else they would have stated a lower number that they are often under. It also means that there are weeks where they are over that. You can refuse to believe things, but I'm generally going to go with deductive reasoning based on stated facts.

Taking the assumption that $600K is the nut for Gentleman's Guide.

It has grossed over $600K only twice since May 2015 and another 3 times over $550K.

Most of the weeks this summer were high $400Ks

It was consistently grossing between $600K and $700K from January to May, but not enough to give a solid "cushion" for the drop this summer.

It has grossed $18.8 million this calendar year.

31 weeks at $600k would be $18.6 million.

When you look at comparisons to gross to %Cap the drop is significant.   92% last week $549K, but 95% on 1/18/15 was $749K

Even as a huge fan of the show, it still surprises me that Something Rotten! is grossing over 1 million per week. Hooray for finally having another hit at  the St. James!
