Thursday, July 9th at 7pm, Barnes and Noble 86th and Lex
Is anyone planning to go to this? A lot of the cast, including Chita Rivera, will be there for a performance and CD signing...I'll be honest, I don't think I have been to this part of town before. Anyone have any comments about the area or knowledge of SI express buses that may stop nearby?

It's a really sketchy part of town. You'll want to be safe and make sure you're protected when you're up there.

I think we'll all be safe. My question is-- Oddly enough, I have never been to a CD release event before. I've just avoided them all these years, but in this case, I'm free that evening and I might go. So what time should I get there? Is 5 pm do-able, or too early/late?

For any wristbanded event, I go to the store in the morning to get the cd & band. There's no telling what time they'll "sell out" so you can get there three hours in advance of the start time and find that throughout the day all the bands have been given out.

It's the Uoper East Side. The only thing you need to worry about is strollers.

I will be there. Going in the morning to get my wristband.
These events are completely a throw of the dice...they are either mobbed or a ghost town. The show was not well received but Chita and others signing could draw the crowd. As is everything in life...how important is it to you?

My apologies, PianoMann. Just came back from a little hiatus...am slightly behind on where the freshest news breaks around here. Ack...in the near future I sincerely hope I will be able to meet Ms. Rivera and thank her. Her performance in this show came at such an appropriate time for me. But that's another story.

No need to apologize, Ado! I'm just providing you with another source for you to get some additional information and advice.
I'm going to try to make the event also, but I won't be able to get into NYC until around 4:00. I'll check in with Barnes and Noble before heading to 86th and worse case I can always try to rush an evening performance of a show instead.
