The Stratford Festival cast recording of Carousel seems to be available to purchase on their website now. They want almost $15 to ship it to me in the US so I think I'll wait for a digital release. Their Crazy For You cast album was released digitally so I'm assuming this one will be too.

Track List:

1. Prologue - Carousel Waltz (Orchestra)
2. Mister Snow (Julie and Carrie)
3. If I Loved You (Billy and Julie)
4. June is Bustin' Out All Over (Nettie, Carrie, and Ensemble)
5. Mister Snow - Reprise (Carrie, Enoch Snow and the Ladies)
6. When the Children Are Asleep (Carrie, Enoch Snow)
7. Blow High, Blow Low (Jigger and the Men)
8. Soliloquy (Billy)
9. A Real Nice Clambake (Nettie, Julie, Enoch Snow and Ensemble)
10. Geraniums in the Winder/Stonecutters Cut It on Stone (Enoch Snow, Jigger, Carrie, and Ensemble)
11. What's the Use of Wond'rin' (Julie)
12. You'll Never Walk Alone (Nettie)
13. The Highest Judge of All (Billy)
14. The Ballet (Orchestra)
15. If I Loved You - Reprise (Billy)
16. You'll Never Walk Alone - Reprise (The Company)

By way of a heads-up, they cut the last stanza of "Highest Judge of All" from the show the two times i saw it, so presumably they would probably leave it off the recording as well. (The one that starts with "reckon my sins are good, big sins, and the punishment won't be small...").  It's kind of weird to hear the song without its big button at the end.

It sounds great. I'm glad they made it available for digital download so quickly. Shipping from Canada would have cost me almost as much as the CD. They really didn't leave too much music off the recording this time around either like they did with "Crazy For You" which bizarrely ended with "Nice Work if You Can Get it" and didn't include the finale. This includes just about all of the songs in the show as well as the prologue and ballet music. Jonathan Winsby sounds wonderful and the recording quality is crystal clear for what was undoubtedly a smaller budgeted endeavor than it would have been on some of the other Broadway labels like PS Classics or Sh-K-Boom. Although, I don't know the specifics of the recording so perhaps it cost just as much. If only the Stratford Festival had recorded their production of Jesus Christ Superstar in this fashion! (I can dream, can't I?)

Wow, it sounds really great. I think this may become my favorite recording of the show.

I'm enjoying it too. This is the first recording of Carousel (in English) since the 1994 Broadway cast recording, yes? I feel like more people should be listening to this. It may not have Audra but it's quite good.

The CD costs$25 Cdn plus tax at the Avon Theatre where it is playing. In US funds that would currently be about $20 US plus tax.

It's still about $30 US for the CD and shipping. I saved $20 with the digital download.
