So I would really love to attend a Shakespeare in the Park performance, but I just can't make it to the city early enough in the morning to get a ticket. Do you wonderful people have any suggestions on how to snag a ticket? I know there is a lottery, but not sure what the odds are like for it. Thanks!

Try the virtual lottery (I won this year after a few tries), and also try the cancellation line. I have no idea what that line has been like lately, but I think usually if you're there around 5-6pm you should be able to get a ticket (they usually distribute tickets starting 30 minutes before the show and keep giving them out until the show has started). Good luck!

If you have the TodayTix app, you can enter their lottery. There's also a virtual lottery on the Public Theatre website, and there's an in-person lottery at the Public. They start taking names at 11:30 AM and draw names at noon. If none of those work out for you, there's always the cancellation line at the Delacorte. I'm not sure how early people are lining up for cancellation tickets these days, but it's worth a shot. When I saw it, I got to the line around 5:45 and still got a ticket. (Of course, there were rumors of a rainstorm that night, so that's probably why the line was so short. That would have been perfect weather for The Tempest if you ask me!)
