If people are interested in Carousel, you might want to check out this video of the current Stratford Festival production, which will also see a cast recording released soon.

So far, the only part of this broadcast I've really loved have been Jennifer Gambatese and Matthew Hydzik. Those two are delightful.

The tempos are a bit lethargic, and seem to be sucking a lot of the life out of this score, IMO. Osnes and Pasquale (just finished the "Soliloquy") sound gorgeous but are not gripping me emotionally at all. I'm sure it was much more effective seeing them rather than just hearing them.

TweetyPie2, check your inbox.

What a wonderful production of one of my favorite shows. Laura Osnes sounds beautiful here and Steven Pasquale was born to play Billy Bigelow. His rendition of 'Soliloquy' is simply heartbreaking. While I wish I could have seen this in person, I'm just glad I had a chance to hear it.

Edited to add: See, Mike, this is one of the things I love most about theater/art; it's so subjective. We both heard the same thing and yet I found it so emotionally satisfying and like they had a real connection to the characters. Often when I hear a concert production or recording wihout seeing the corresponding show, I feel like I've missed out on somethiong. Though I wish I had seen it in person, this broadcast made me feel transported to a place where songs I've heard a hundred times before sounded brand new.

This is a great cast. Pasquale is amazing. Osnes reminds me of Kelli O'Hara.

How is the Stratford Festival getting another cast album? How often do regional theatre productions get to record albums? And if they have the money to do it why didn't they record a cast album of their Jesus Christ Superstar production? That I would have paid for!

Their Crazy For You recording seemed more like a highlights album since they left out the finale. Hopefully their Carousel doesn't disappoint.

Listened to this today and thought it was just wonderful. Found it to be very emotional and resonant.

Agree a bit about some slower tempos, and I didn't fully buy Ms. d'Amboise (at least aurally), but these are minor quibbles.

Laura Osnes proves time and again what a beguiling presence she can be. That voice just sparkles, and you just believe every second with her.

Undeniably, the highlight of the broadcast was Pasquale's thrilling "Soliloquy". Gosh, he really was about pitch perfect in this role.

I will love this score forever, I think it's truly one of the Crown Jewels of our industry.

Really happy we got a chance to hear this. Bravo to those involved.

Pasquale's doing the New York Pops Rodgers & Hammerstein concert in October isn't he? Can;t see how they'd let him get away with not doing Soliloquay after that performance. Might be worth getting a ticket on the off chance, just for that!

I'd be very surprised if he didn't sing "Soliloquy." What would be some other good R&H songs for him?

Is there any way to record this without any kind of rips or errors in the audio? There's a version that was recorded but it has skips and I really wanted to turn this broadcast into a fan made cast album since it looks like it wont be coming to Broadway anytime soon.

EDIT: I literally forgot it was already streaming. Hopefully it's rebroadcast again sometime soon.
