Surprised that Hand to God just released a new batch of tix with so many being on TDF. Hope they last through the summer!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
A friend of mine told me that three out of the six shows above sold more than $20K worth of TDF tickets last week, respectively. If that's true…. crazy.
A little update for anyone interested:
Fish in the Dark is up now for Wednesday 6/17 matinee ONLY.
Hand to God only has ONE date up… glad to see their hard efforts (hopefully) paying off.
It may very well signal the end is in sight. Why else release that many dates to TDF @ 1 time . They may want to go out in a blaze of glory and end right after July 4 as, after all, it is a show about 3 sailors. The story would have been much different if it had been in a smaller theater. They were doomed to failure when they took the Lyric. They got across the board raves but in that barn it did not help. Had they won Best revival, it would only have postponed the inevitable. A sad story with an unhappy ending.
Is the rent really that high on the Lyric? Why would being in a smaller theatre have helped? It could have hurt if the smaller theatre had a smaller stage and pit - such that the presumed main attractions of the revival - the dancing and the orchestra - would have been diminished.
It may have been noted previously that the TDF price for musicals is going up beginning with 7/1 performances. It also appears to be true of plays as the WOLF HALL performances for July are priced at $41.
July 4th holiday is historically a very slow week for shows. I wouldn't be surprised if OTT closes then. Such a great production but yes- in the wrong theater......but they tried. What producers- they keep a lot of people working despite losing many millions.
FYI: Gents Guide is up for a few upcoming matinees. Hedwig is up for their Sunday evening Pride performance. OTT and Phantom still have a flood of dates. That's all.
Bumping to ask if anyone thinks it'll be difficult to do student rush on July 4th for Wolf Hall. How early do you think I should get there? Would it be better just to be safe and get the tickets off of TDF?
Not as Broadway-related but I was thinking about seeing The Peony Pavilion with a TDF ticket but the price is suspiciously close to the price for the cheapest seats anyway.
On their Facebook page yesterday, they posted: "Please be advised that due to a power outage in our building, the TDF website is currently down & we're unable to process ticket orders at this time. We appreciate your patience."
