These all look great, but I cannot respect them when they said that Lea Michelle would be great in something.

Was this list made by AfterEight?

JBroadway, no and here's why:

"With his unique gift for complex musical composition and lyrical wit, renowned composer Stephen Sondheim would be the perfect person"

Also in case anybody didn't know, Clickhole is a parody of Buzzfeed and is not real

Jordan, this isn’t news fit for this site.

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s jazz album, on the other hand, IS news fit for this site. Daily news. Ugh.

Fantod, yes I know. Clickhole is a parody website, therefore everything they are saying is sarcastic. So the comment about Sondheim is sarcasm. That's why I made that joke about AfterEight.

I feel so gross for being forced to explain humor

I think we should make a thread dedicated to After Eight and all of his iconic quotes.
I'll start is off with my personal favorite, when After Eight was a person and not a caricature of himself:
"Oh, and or [sic] the record, I do not hate Sondheim's work. I dislike a great deal of it, but I like some of it."
The was he acts now, you'd never that this is an actual quote from After Eight.

I've always wondered what After Eight's thoughts on A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM were. Or A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (unless he's already voiced his opinions on them before my arrival).

I would think he would have enjoyed Night Music - but I am certainly no authority on anything. It is fascinating to read the 2011 Follies preview thread and hear his thoughts about that show - without all that unadaltuating hate.

And for the record, I rather enjoy After Eight's comments: they can be very informative and intriguing, but as of late his hatred has been coming out in increasingly unbecoming ways, including rude comments to very nice and friendly posters. I think After Eight can be a perfectly lovely human being. But after my last few comments, I'm probably in his ignore list.

I for one like After Eight's posts best of all on this Board. I like that he has a sunny outlook on life and appreciates things that make him happy. He also recommended to me the best salad dressing I've ever had (walnut oil in case you are curious). He unapologetically doesn't like Sondheim's work and thinks that it is objectively bad and ruins the joy in life (a statement I agree with) and wants music to be pretty and theatre to be magical, which is what we should all want from our beloved theatre. Plus, having over 50 years of theatre experience from what I can tell is something that I highly value, and he (she? they?) has made many insightful comments about many older productions. And besides, people are much meaner and ageist to him than he ever is to anybody else.
As for his thoughts on ALNM and Forum, I can use this thing called "search" to find such posts.

Here is one from him on the recent revival of ALNM:

"I enjoyed it, but it is expensive. Do I think it is worth the top price? I'd say no. But I really don't think any show is worth that price. But seeing you're a fan of the show and the stars, you might find it worth your while. The show is well done, and both actresses do a fine job."

Here is a comment from him on forum:

"Sondheim's washed out music was not what A Funny Thing needed."

and a reply from him when another poster said that Forum's songs provided respite from madcap action:

"Any songs could do that. It's not just a question of function, it's a question of quality. The songs have to be more than mediocre, and well suited to the material. Forum's songs are neither."

Interesting to note that many Sondheim fans would probably agree with him about FORUM's songs and their relation / necessity to the action (although I personally love them).
