Buffalo Bill..... oops, I mean our Pal Joey,

If it gets rave reviews, followed by your expected victory lap, do you think we will be free of your hysterical and relentless cheerleading for this show once and for all?

Our eardrums would be so grateful.

Ben Stone..... oops I mean our beloved After Eight,

When will we be free of your pity-party dirgical of an attitude? With nothing ever being good enough and always lamenting the demise of theatre?

Our eardrums would be so grateful.

Especially since you have a wealth of knowledge and use it simply to decry the very thing you claim to love.

P.S. With your unrelenting attitude, you certainly could be a character in Follies, Passion, Marie Christine, or even The Wild Party. Wouldn't you rather be a character in Mame or Dolly?

After Eight has truly lost all sense of irony in his old age.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night. But my heart is palpitating with them.

To get everyone in the mood, here are Betty Comden and Adolph Green singing "Carried Away" on a live 1956 TV broadcast:

That clip of Comden and Green is wonderful. Genius really.

Fingers crossed for good reviews for the new version. Broadway needs it.

Financial Times is positive (4 of 5 stars):

"All three male leads blend sweetness with virility. Clyde Alves is a swaggering Ozzie, Jay Armstrong Johnson a pratfall-mastering Chip, and Tony Yazbeck a deservedly centre-stage Gabey. I had the privilege of watching the last On the Town Broadway revival, in 1998, in the company of Comden and Green. When the latter heard or saw something he liked, he would whisper “Yes, yes.” I’d like to think he would be similarly affirmative if he were alive for this revival."

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but wouldn't "mixed" or at least "mixed-to-positive" be a better description of that Talkin Broadway review?

He praised quite a bit, but he HATED Alysha Umphress. I don't agree with his assessment, but yes I'd say it's mixed to positive.

The video of "Some Other Time" was wonderful until the piano player sang. Sondheim is right, Bernstein had the voice of a frog.

Didn't have any great desires around this either way. But would love to see something wonderful fill up that barn. And support a full orchestra. Break legs everyone and hoping for great reviews
