Hello all, So I was just listening to the LA CAGE OBC (still wonderful) and thought of how lovely "Song on the Sand" is and that it really is one of the better love songs in any musical. Can you think of other same-sex love songs like this one?

That still makes no sense to me. This is not for an essay, I just am curious because I couldn't think of any more of them and I wonder if any compare to "Song on the Sand"

"You are My" from See Rock City and Other Destinations is one of my new favorites, but I doubt you'd appreciate it. They also sing "Dark Ride" in the show. There are also a few duets in Zanna, Don't!
"The One I Love" - HELLO AGAIN "Why Can't the World Go and Leave Us Alone?" - DANCE A LITTLE CLOSER "You and I", "Best-Kept Secret", and "Bare" - BARE "If You Were Wondering" - THE BOY FROM OZ "The Word of Your Body (reprise)" - SPRING AWAKENING "The Best Thing That Ever Has Happened to Me" - ROAD SHOW "Love is a Question Mark" - TABOO "Just Go" - A NEW BRAIN
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
You Are My Bitch isn't really a "gay" themed duet. (btw, I love some of the lyrics in the song. I'd never heard the term "twat waffle" before, and I'm still not sure I know what it is, but it's hilarious in the song)
I'm honestly not sure what you mean by "homosexual duets". Most great love songs are about two people in love and often there is no mention or clarity of their being opposite sexes. Almost any great love song works as well for same sex couples as they do for opposite sex couples (although admittedly a few may require a couple slight lyric changes).
At a benefit I once saw two great male singers perform People Will Say We're in Love from Oklahoma and it brought streams of tears to my eyes.
Once at Joe's Pub I saw Kyle Dean Massey and someone else from N2N at the time perform "Who Will Love Me As I Am?" and it was second only to Alice & Emily in emotional power.
If you are strictly looking for songs written for gays and lesbians then Falsettos is a good place to start. "What Would I Do" is the most heartbreaking, but "Thrill of First Love" is pretty funny and "Something Bad is Happening" is a good one for the lesbians.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
Any song can be turned into a "gay duet" One of the best ones I know of are I Know Him Well sung buy John Barrowman and Daniel Boys
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
