Hello, my professor wants to take us to a show in the city but our class is on the smaller side so getting group rates for a show will be difficult. If anyone has any good recommendations for shows that will be playing any time in the next three months that we can get tickets for under $30 please let me know. Thank you!!
I got tickets for my students to see On The Town for $29 a ticket in the student balcony. I don't know how the seats will be, but it's the cheapest show I found (and one that I'm genuinely excited about).
No need to look off and off-off Broadway, although there are plenty of quality things playing… school groups will appreciate Broadway more, in my opinion. I was in charge of a school group (high school) a few years back that went to see three shows per school year. Our process would start with the group of 22 students choosing a list (10-12 shows) of currently playing shows, and then vote. Whatever show got the most votes, we would visit the respective website and find a ticketing agent contact or someone with the show who could point us in the right direction of where to set up a class field trip on student rates.
To name a few, we saw: In the Heights, Tom Stoppard's Rock 'N' Roll, Next to Normal, American Idiot, South Pacific, Spring Awakening, The Little Mermaid, etc. If I remember correctly, we never paid over $40 per student ticket.
I sat in a $27 seat for Curious Incident, and the view was fine. It's a wonderful show with a young protagonist, and I think your students would love it.
