First let me start with the fact that Audra was phenomenal. A heartbreaking, powerful and mesmerizing performance. Idina and LaChanze were both in the audience. Show started late and I assume it was for them to get in once the crowd was settled. Idina stopped outside and took pictures with a few fans who noticed her. I waited for Audra and in my nervousness blurted out, "I cried during your song in Sound of Music." Palm-to-face. Besides that, she was gorgeous and gracious.

Did they call out of If/Then? I saw Jerry at It's Only A Play.

If/Then was dark tonight. They only had a matinee and have a show Sunday evening instead.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Huh. I guess I just assumed that they would not have a matinee and keep the evening show.

Wednesday matinees tend to make more money than nights. You get the older crowds and theatre groups. And mid-week weeknights tend to be smaller due to "i have work tomorrow" type of concerns, especially for older or "bridge and tunnel crowds."

Maybe they figured the numbers bear out similarly between matinee and evening shows on this day... Have a nice dinner with respective families, relaxing night out. Wonder if they met with Audra afterwards.

Edit: What nasty_khakis says, interesting.

From a performer's standpoint, having a matinee with no evening performance, followed the next day by an evening performance, allows the performer to have a nice break between performances. They get a full evening off after the matinee, followed by a free day up until the next evening's performance. It's almost like getting a second day off.
