Heathers: the musical; Broadway Transfer AND Movie planned for 2016?

I wouldn't hold my breath for either of those things to happen.

Though the show recently closed off-Broadway, Harris revealed plans for a movie and Broadway transfer in the future. “The ideal situation is to have them both released at the same time, around 2016,” he said.

Also why would that be ideal? It seems to me like one would cannibalize the audience of the other.

No, with the 70 or so people they go to see the show each night during it's run, there's more than enough demand to spend those millions and turn it into a movie.

I wouldn't mind if it was for Lifetime. Just use those girls from the unauthorized saved by the bell movie.

Yeah, Lifetime's audiences are just BEGGING for a musical based on an off-broadway flop.

I really don't think people get the idea that HEATHER's didn't just randomly close. It couldn't fill the house and didn't sell enough and closed in a commercial engagement.

NO. YOU ARE WRONG. It closed because it was MISUNDERSTOOD and people made sure it sold out EVERY performance EVER.

Add to that the fact that the show is beyond amateurish. I would rather have root canal without being put out that see this show again. This is not new and I have said this before.

Some of the music is very good but the direction was not great. I have a bias with this show because I know someone who was one of the leads but I would like to see this show suceed.

This show should wait a little while before doing anything. I could see it being a cult musical in a couple of decades or maybe it'll just never have an audience.

I would love to see the stage production come back. Not so sure about a movie.

I am sure it was just sarcasm as they sold more than 70 tickets a night I'm sure.

The score to Heathers is FANTASTIC so I hope this does come to Broadway!! If they make some changes to the show, I think Heathers would do well on Broadway if they get good reviews, and if the word of mouth is good.

While it would be awesome for 2ST to purchase the HH and produce (hopefully) some great work on that stage, they seem to be having some difficulty acquiring the $30 million to purchase the theatre, so it may not happen for some time.
