I noticed that tonight Cabaret is on TKTS for 40% off. I know they usually only have matinees at the booth, and I also remember that the last time a night show was on there, Michelle Williams was out for the weekend. I have tickets for Friday night, and would be crushed if Alan Cumming and/or Michelle Williams were out. For those of you who are going between tonight and Thursday, could you tell me how things turned out? Thank you.
I'm not sure why this requires a translation, but the OP noticed that Cabaret was on TKTS for an evening performance, and remembers that in the past when this happened (it's unusual), it was because one of the leads was going to be out, so OP is worried about the next few days of performances. OP has tickets for Friday and is asking anyone on here who attends the show tonight, tomorrow or Thursday to report back on whether Cumming or Williams is out.
Michelle just took a vacation and Alan isn't scheduled for one this week. However, no one can predict the future, so they might just be randomly out when you see it. It's live theater, things happen. Worrying about it doesn't help.
Thanks for clarifying. I don't think there's a correlation. After Labor Day every show slows down. But I don't have any info about Michelle or Alan being out.
Gayle Rankin is out this week, according to her Twitter account. Also on Twitter, Alan confirmed for a fan that he will be performing this coming Sunday, so I'd imagine that means he's in all week. Since Michelle had a weeklong vacation only about a month ago, my guess would be that she'll be in, but you never know.
Caught the show Thurs (8/2. Danny was out, and Philip Hoffman was n for Schultz. What an absolute delight he was! I later remembered seeing him in A CATERED AFFAIR a few years back. Everyone else was on, and also sensational.
See it before Linda and Danny leave. Alan plays the role just as well as he did 15 years ago, but I found Burstein and Emond to be the ones who stole the show. Linda is heart-breaking and honest in the role.
I saw the show with Philip Hoffman last week. He was excellent. I didn't feel I lost anything. Linda Emond should have won the Tony for Featured Actress this year, in my opinion.
Thank you for all the posts. I went last night and Kaleigh Cronin was on as Fräulein Kost. She was great and stole a few scenes! The show was amazing, as Alan Cumming was electric and so brilliant in every appearance he made, Michelle Williams was a terrific Sally, and Linda Emond, Danny Burnstein, Bill Heck, and the rest of the co. were fantastic! I went to the stage door afterwards, and there were only about 10-15 people waiting! Everyone came out and was so very nice to everyone and I could not be happier! Alan Cumming seemed to be slightly in a rush but I think he had an event afterwards because he went back inside and then came out in a suit jacket. He was still very nice, though! Go to see this show if you haven't already, or maybe you want to drop in for another visit!
I agree Linda Edmond was wonderful but was quite disappointed with Michelle William's Sally. I didn't understand what she was doing with her characterization; the vocals were weak. I didn't care about her character because she was portrayed so stupid and odd. To me it was a very strange performance.
