Just happened to be at Brooklyn Shuck's first performance yesterday at the Matilda matinee. What an incredible little girl! Although her accent was sometimes a little weird (esp with the "I'm a girl" line), she didn't seem nervous at all to me! She looked so little, but her voice was incredible, especially for Quiet.
They made an announcement about this being her first show at the beginning and that things might have to stop and readjust but everything went completely smoothly. The audience went wild when she made her first entrance and at final bows. I know that this isn't her first Broadway show, but she is a great new addition to the Matilda cast.

I do think it's very interesting to see different girls in the same part. They are all special yet unique and bring something of their own to the role.

The two who have not yet gone on...Tori and Eliza... are absolutely tiny and the littlest of the bunch. Fina (the youngest) towers over them. Both Fina and Brooklyn had great starts. I find the accent of the new girls less bothersome than with the original Newtildas. Maybe it's been toned down some.

I agree, Kathy. I saw Sophia last October and thought she was great as well!

The accent thing wasn't terrible- it was just with certain words or certain vowel sounds. She was still great- and the audience went wild for her!

Just curious why do they need to make an announcement saying it's the girls first and things might have to stop?
Cause they're kids?
I understand a show stopping due to tech issues or mid show sickness and someone needing to be replaced.

I don't know why.....but they do this with every new Matilda. It's rare that a new actress/actor gets a special live announcement as well.

I guess they just really want the audience to be pulling for them...to be extra supportive. They are young..especially this group. But Brooklyn didn't even seem nervous at all..
