I've been wondering this myself.

Possible spoiler:

Maybe they are having a hard time getting A-list actors to agree to rape/be raped with a fried chicken drumstick On Broafway 8 times a week.

Just a theory.

Any chance McConaughey might reprise his role? Regardless, I hope this production comes to fruition, it's my favorite Letts play! Maybe Letts himself could play Ansel?

I asked Letts about this when he was leaving the theater from Realistic Joneses. He perked right up when I asked him, but said he had no info other than he really hoped it would happen.

I want Sam Rockwell in the title role

Sam Rockwell...yes please.

Could this be the spring tenant at the Winter Garden???? (If so, then maybe they have A-listers.)

This play is a delicate beast. The Profiles Theatre production I saw in Chicago was great, but the film actually made me uncomfortable, and I'm definitely no prude. I'm also not sure this play would work in a huge, proscenium Broadway theater. If it's done on Broadway, it should be done at Circle in the Square. And of course, you need a star for the title character or no one will come see it.

Personally, I'd love to see Michelle Williams as Sharla. I'll always be angry for not being able to see her do the play in 1998 so that would be a way to finally forgive myself. :)

Well Circle is booked for the foreseeable future, so perhaps they'll figure out a way to use a proscenium staging?

I think most of us who enjoy the play have seen the film.

The movie kind of snuck into theaters a few years back -- it's a great ugly little joyride.

Killer Joe also is balls out full frontal nudity on stage. If the actor playing Joe cuts the nudity, then I'll know they are sanitizing this very raw piece. It needs to stay visceral and primal.

I think Cheyenne Jackson would be quite good in this.

Yes, he was decidedly overdressed in the opening scene of THE PERFORMERS. This would compensate.
