I'm a big fan of the cast recording so I went to YouTube to view the (VERY limited) footage from the off broadway run. While watching a review the reviewer said that the show was going to broadway. So I guess I have a few questions. Was this actually going to happen? If so why didn't it?
It's just too off-Broadway for Broadway, if that makes sense. I love the show and love the music. But I couldn't imagine it doing very well on Broadway.
True. I saw that quirky, fun show at the George St. Playhouse almost 6 years ago. Nick Cordero, the shining light in BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, was very effective as the nebbishy nerd who gets "slimed" and transforms into the title character, and Nancy Opel nearly stole the show in a wildly comic dual role. But even then it was on comps. I agree; entertaining as it was, it was a geared to a niche market. I don't think a Broadway run would have been successful, even with that very capable cast.
I ran into Mitch Jarvis in Times Square once and asked him if he new anything about the Broadway move (he was in the ensemble of the Texas Alley Theatre production) and he told me the producers were still looking for a theatre....but that was 2 years ago. x)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
