Personally, I applaud him if the lady was doing all that is said in the article. Plus, he does this kind of thing at every show, only this time he had a good reason to. Any chance anyone here witnessed this?
Personally I don't see why this is even being treated as news. He has directed comments towards audience members in the past, and he spits water at the audience during every show. It's all part of the show.
I did question why BWW decided to do an article on the incident when it is something that happens in the show nightly, but maybe it's because of the nature of the woman who got spit on or something. Would not surprise me if she got all upset and complained to someone (Even though she brought it on herself)
Can't clutch my pearls over this one. Just maybe twist them a bit on one pinky.

Not sure why it has to be news every time he hones in on misbehaving audience members. Then again maybe it isn't. I know he snipes at late people almost every performance and that never makes the Post.
Wish he'd have done it to the person in front of me at the 10pm show last night. Like full on asleep. The dude was in row B in orch. How he didn't notice and rip him to shreds is astounding.. But yes, the attention he gets for doing this **** is ridiculous, the minute Rannells takes over; there won't be any reporting. It's because it's NPH.
Great, now Roxie at the next Chicago performance will take the whole "I gotta pee!" line to a whole other level.
"I've got to get me out of here
This place is full of dirty old men
And the navigators and their mappy maps
And moldy heads and pissing on sugar cubes
While you stare at your books."
Perhaps the spitting was perceived by those in attendance as being done not just in character in the usual way but out of actual malice for the woman's admittedly poor behavior. If Hedwig is supposed to spray water on several patrons and did so only on one, I'd guess animosity played at least a part. Maybe Harris is just getting tired of his 7 performances a week these past few months and can't wait for mid-August.
After seeing the show for an 8th time on Saturday, NPH does appear a bit like a marathon runner around mile 20. He's at the last 10K of his run and seems to be hitting a wall. I'm sure he'll get his second wind in the final weeks (end of running metaphor) but I imagine this role much be draining, especially once all the adrenaline and euphoria of opening night and award season has passed and now it's just the daily grind. Still a brilliant performance and great production though.
Now if this was Idina or Cheno, THAT would be exciting news.
