Alice Ripley as Elphaba, especially since the 90's were her vocal peak.

In the 90s? I'd probably go with the young lady playing Maureen in Rent for Elphaba.

Honestly, the entire original cast could still have done it in the 90s. They would have been more age appropriate. No one would know who they were quite yet but age wise they fit.

If it were made in the 70's or 80's, I would want Bernadette Peters as G(a)linda (weren't those her blonde years also?)

I would also want Patti Lupone as Elphaba, just to have those two on the same stage co-starring

Considering there were readings and workshops of Wicked in the late 90's, and it got to Broadway only a few years later, this thread is a bit strange.

I was looking at the perspective of the workshops and readings being done in the 80's and opened in the early 90's.

Wouldn't you rather imagine a 1940s cast with Ethel Merman as Elphaba and Mary Martin as G(a)linda? John Raitt as Fiyero?
