This season gave us some of the most recorded shows in a couple of years and I wanna know what your thoughts are on best/worst, favorite/least favorite songs, what might be Grammy-nominated, etc. This should be enough to have 4 or 5 recording nominees for the Grammy, right?
First Date Big Fish A Night with Janis Joplin A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder Beautiful: The Carole King Musical The Bridges of Madison County Rocky Aladdin If/Then Bullets Over Broadway Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill (released 7/15) Violet Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Shows Not Recorded: Soul Doctor After Midnight (live songs are available on their website) Les Misérables (2010 live recording available; I hear they're looking into recording the current Broadway cast) Cabaret (1998 recording available) Updated On: 7/4/14 at 05:04 PM
Roxy, whenever you get the impulse to write the word "than" write the word "then" instead. Whenever you think what you mean is "then", write "than" instead. You always always ALWAYS write the wrong one, so that little trick may help you look as if you know how to write your native language.
I cannot stop listening to Bridges. I would also include Heathers on this list though I don't think it will be Grammy-nominated despite a few brilliant songs.
Definitely Bridges is the best I've heard in a long time and should win the Grammy. It is gorgeous. (Granted I don't have Fun Home or Comet so barring those, it's the best.)
I wanted to love Beautiful (like I adore the show) but the recording is super annoying and I'm so disappointed. I think they included way too many book lines in all but maybe 2 tracks, so you can't really listen to the tracks and enjoy the songs without hearing dumb lines interrupt the flow. "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" is wonderful. But ugh just thinking about how they cut "Some Kind of Wonderful" with the manager going "Now that's a song! And I know who should sing it!" etc. makes me angry all over again!
The Stand Outs for me have been If/Then, Bridges, and Fun Home (in that order). I didn't find anything particularly bad, but those three are the ones that keep me coming back. Also, select tracks from Beautiful are incredible specifically that last few on the recording, they really highlight the amazingness that is Jessie Mueller.
I absolutely loved Great Comet live, but the cast recording for the most part underwhelmed me, some of the songs were incredible, but I think you need to experience the show and it's music to truly appreciate it.
I really enjoy the cast recording for Beautiful... Jessie Mueller is just extraordinary! I also think that If/Then is very well done. But the recording for Violet includes to much of the book and just ruins it. The Bridges of Madison County is just phenomenal!! I truly think that this is the best that Keli O' Hara has sounded.
But the recording for Violet includes to much of the book and just ruins it.
This is actually the reason I enjoy the new VIOLET recording so much. The (excellent) original 1998 recording doesn't include as much dialogue, and I like that the cast isn't the only thing that makes the new recording a different listening experience.
"I've got to get me out of here
This place is full of dirty old men
And the navigators and their mappy maps
And moldy heads and pissing on sugar cubes
While you stare at your books."
I have 5 and I will list them in the order of what I listen to the most: Bridges Beautiful If/Then Big Fish (I only listen to this rarely because it still makes me sob!) First Date
Downloading Violet right now, I don't know why I forgot that they had a cast recording!
I would say my favorite recordings this season were GREAT COMET, VIOLET, and FUN HOME. The BRIDGES score also is up there, and (though their scores do not merit widespread praise) ROCKY and IF/THEN are at least well-produced recordings. ALADDIN, too, is expectedly well-produced by Disney. Remember that the Grammy (as I understand it) isn't for best score, it's for best album. That's for the production side, though the composition does likely play a part.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
As far as Disney – produced recordings, I seem to find the beauty and the beast and the little mermaid recordings lacking. Sound qualities at least on the CDs and transferred to my iPod sound very quiet compared to newly produced recordings. I think Aladdin is Disney's best recording sound quality wise.
Hello, Getting a fake and real passport , ID or driving license or any other document is simple. I can make you both real and fake documents However, the real documents are more expensive than the fake because it takes time, skill and contacts to get it done. Note that, the fake is going to be in 100% unique and very good quality. The difference is based on the registration of the numbers. The real Document will be registered with the country's database so you can use it to travel to any country of your choice or in the country, mean while the fake will not be registered but can be use as well.
