I can't wait to see Nancy Opel in this. Hands down one of the best character actors I've ever seen. I saw Paige in this about a week ago. And she was fantastic. Vocally strong as well as acting and dancing. Certainly giving a star turn as Ella.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
I'm interested to see her. I found Drescher (and most of her castmates who joined with her) downright painful to sit through.

True, it's by no means a "singing" role. But does require a very skilled character actor. But let's not get it mixed up here. Nancy Opel sings her butt off! Still belting high E's.
I was thinking the same thing! She will probably act the hell out of this but it's a shame that no one will hear her sing. I really wish Madame had a song of some kind. I get chills whenever I listen to her.
My grandchildren and I saw the show yesterday afternoon. While we enjoyed the show and found the two leads to be excellent, we felt Nancy Opel was no more than adequate. I've seen her do better work in other productions. Perhaps after a few more performances in front of a live audience she'll find more humor in the role.
