I found a wonderful clip from the 1967 Tony Awards - the first year they were televised - of Barbara Harris in an absolutely wonderful scene from The Apple Tree (: Does anyone have any recommendations of things they have found on YouTube? Are there any full length broadcasts available? (would love to see the 1972 Tonys - so I could "boo" when Two Gentlemen Of Verona won instead of Follies, grrr!) (; Any clips from plays or musicals anyone has ever found they might recommend?

Most if not all of them are available somewhere on Youtube. If you just look up the show title + "tonys" it should pop right up. Of course, it's always good to check that the show actually performed, as there were some years that performances were omitted or given to odd shows not even nominated. Quality varies, but they are there. A great deal of high quality ones came from the great PBS Broadway Treasures collections from a few years ago.

Miss Pooch Smooch's sister (husband?) channel has a bunch more:

The Sullivan estate has clips of 16 hours of Broadway performers from 1949 to 1970, most of which hey have never released commercially and only some of which are floating around online.

It's criminal that these clips are not more readily available.

Thank you so much - these are heavenly! (: Just finished the 1977 Tonys, which had 10 minutes of Annie, a terrific song from I Love My Wife, and Millicent Martin's terrific "I'm Still Here" (didn't like the Happy End number) - some of it was dreadful: Jack Albertson and Buddy Ebsen are not my idea of a fun time hearing them sing - but I did enjoy Beatrice Arthur and Jean Stapleton's numbers. Disappointed that julie Harris wasn't there for her 5th Tony ): Worst speech: the producer of Porgy and Bess, just dreadful ): Best speech: Dorothy Loudon! Just wonderful!!!! (: Why did Gene Saks win instead of Martin Charnin? Whatever became of Lenny Baker, who was so good in Next Stop, Greenwich Village? We never really saw Trazana Beverley or Dolores Hall in much of anything else, did we? Surprised that Barry Bostwick won instead of Reid Shelton... lots of fun! Can't wait to see more of these telecasts!!!! (:

Thank-you so much for sharing this :) I'm watching the 1993 Tony Awards telecast and now understand why they don't show the winners for the creative awards. In squeezing them all in every speech was cut short and interrupted by the orchestra! Also I didn't know there used to be only one award for best revival including play and musical. I've definitely caught the Tony Awards bug and am planning on watching all the ones online in time for the 2014 telecast!

I'm totally hooked! (: So far, I've watched 1967, 68, 69, 70., 71 (considered the best telecast ever, due to original stars - except Florence Henderson - doing their most famous numbers from 1947-1970), 1972 and 1977 (:

I started watching the Tonys when I was 10 years old (I'm in my forties now), so it is great fun seeing these Tonys from before then, and it will be great fun to re-watch the ones I already saw. I only know one Tony winner, and I missed the Tonys in 2002, when he won his award, so I'm hoping I can find that telecast! (:

Wow, there has been so many great moments: Jill Haworth's 72 performance of "Cabaret"; Gwen Verdon's "Whatever Lola wants"; Vivian Blaine's "Adelaide's Lament"; the songs from Hair at the end of the 69 telecast; Helen Gallagher and Bobby Van singing and dancing from no, No, Nanette (and her 71 acceptance speech: "sticking with it"); Julie Harris' beautiful dress when she won for Forty Carats; Barbara Harris' hysterically funny "I Want To Be A Movie Star" from The Apple Tree; great acceptance speeches... the strange 15 minute segment from Coco was fascinating (Kate sure can't sing!)....

Anyway, loving these and looking forward to seeing more of them! (:
