For Matilda I am looking at the front row of the orchestra. Is that too close? If so, what are the best non-premium seats in the orchestra section. Also, would the front row mezz be good for Matilda?

When I saw MATILDA there was absolutely no seating in the first row except for the extreme sides near the walls. Full row seating began in row B and the two seats I purchased near the center aisle were premium priced. Those few side seats in row A didn't look that desirable.

I sat in the first partial view seat in row A and it is as good a seat as any. I had seen the show from partial view further back and from standing room and row A was my favorite spot. Hardly anything is obstructed and it will not affect your enjoyment of the show. Enjoy.

I'm looking at the center aisle seats on row AA and the inner seats on row A. I'm having a bit of trouble because I'm wondering if I got seats on row AA if it would be too close to enjoy.

My opinion, it's to close. Mezz is fine. I sat in the balcony and thought it was fine.

And I sat in the balcony and hated it..LOL Different strokes...

I have also seen it really close up and I enjoyed it much more. Usually I prefer mezz seats (and I do think front of the mezz would be fine) but this is a show where I really appreciated seeing people's faces and expressions really close up. Plus I found it really hard to hear way back and so with such a wordy show..closer was better for me as well.

I love the row A seats.

As long as you aren't in the back orchestra or mezzanine you should be okay. Sitting up close has its advantages (even if you miss some of the beautiful stage compositions). Just stay away from the back where the overhang is CRIMINAL.

I've sat everywhere for this show from last row Balcony/Mezz/Orchestra to front row Mezz/Orch and middle Orchestra. My favorite experience was front row Orch, but would recommend anything in the Balcony (I've even sat behind a stupid pole), and anything in the orchestra in front of the overhang, which I believe is row H. The mezzanine was also wonderful, and I know sometimes they sell the first few rows at TKTS so that would be a good seat as well.

All in all, the show is so worth seeing in my opinion, that it doesn't matter where you sit. It just enhances the experience if you can see the entire proscenium as it stays lit the entire show.

I'm looking at Orchestra Row F (the row that appears to have only side seating), particularly seats 12 and surrounding. Are those seats obstructed at all, being to the side? I'm trying to do non-premium for an orchestra seat, and I definitely don't want in the rear. So should I go for Row F and similar side seats in the first few rows, or Row A center? I tend to prefer closeness to the action, seeing actors' faces, etc. more than anything, but I don't want to be so close that I can't see anything happening deeper into the stage, if that makes sense… Thanks in advance!

Both of those seats sound great! I would personally go with row F because I like a bit of distance from the stage. I doubt you will be missing anything. If you and your party love to be up close to the action, then shoot for row A. It's a matter of personal preference. The front of the mezz is the best for this show in my opinion.

I've only ever done standing room for Matilda, and I really do not think being in the rear of the orchestra takes away anything from the show.

Broadwaydreaming, thank you! My main concern was being too far to the side!

Midnightradio - Do you miss any action? I've just read that the overhang is horrible and that you can't see the full proscenium…

Thank you both for your replies!

All of the action takes place on stage and audience floor except for one tiny bit in the Mezz boxes. So you wouldn't miss anything from the back of the house except for the beautiful proscenium that really completes the atmosphere.

I'm probably the only fan who doesn't think the top of the proscenium being blocked does anything to take away from the atmosphere.

I would go with the mezzanine for Matilda.
