This article focused soley on the character of "Pippin." Someone mentioned Darren Criss. He's a known face and all, but he certainly does not have the soaring vocals needed for the role of Pippin.

Pippin

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I know people on here aren't necessarily fans on Aaron Tveit, but I could totally see him pulling this off. The final moments in "Goodbye" from CMIYC prove that his voice can reach incredible heights and he does have a bit of a "name" draw having done Les Mis and having his TV show.

I am a pretty big Tveit fan. I think he could be terrific in the role. However, he is hardly a "name". Better known to the industry, definitely, but that would be about it.

And this isn't so much an article, as someone posting responses to a poll. No different then reading a thread here.

I’m probably alone, but I can’t see Hunter or Darrin being able to sing it. Hunter seemed to struggle to sing Godspell’s score, and Darrin left A LOT to be desired in How to succeed.

The concept of Pippin as a vocally challenging powerhouse role is relatively new- let's not forget that the original Pippin had a light, folky voice without much power behind it. I agree, however, that the score is better served in this new revival with its beefed-up sound and a Pippin with real vocal chops.
