I hope this is allowed to be posted on this board! I am a 16 year old actor from Madison, WI and I just recently started a blog about acting and Broadway shows. I only started a week or two ago, so I only have one review up (pre-Broadway Big Fish at the Oriental) but I have a few other posts and I am constantly updating. Today or tomorrow I will post about all of the new shows coming to Broadway this next season. Please check it out here:
I unfortunately have not had the chance to travel to New York in my lifetime! I am hoping to go to NYU however in two years and that will change everything. I am constantly trying to figure out different ways to see new and interesting shows, and I am hoping to see a couple shows in New York this coming year :)
Welcome to BWW! This is your first post. You have a nice little blog. Is your theatre also in Madison, WI? I wasn't sure about it. Anyway, it's always nice to get a young person's perspective on all things theatre. Just beware of some wretchedly mean people that roam these halls, from time to time. Just saying.. from RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Thanks for your replies! Yeah my theater is in Madison, WI. Basically, I act locally for different companies such as the Children's Theater of Madison, Madison Opera (with legendary conductor John DeMain!) and my high school (James Madison Memorial). Also in our city we have the Overture Center which is a wonderful new center that has couple theaters, and is also included as a location in the Broadway Across America program. So we get around 4-5 shows every year. I love watching them and I thought it would be a good idea to post my ideas on it! I'm also now on the press list for the Marcus Center in Milwaukee so I will hopefully be able to see a few more shows per year, plus I contacted Margie with Broadway in Chicago, but she still hasn't gotten back to me.
Yeah people can be rude sometimes.. Thank you for your warning! The best thing to do I guess is to just keep going and doing what you love.
Best of luck in your endeavors. Just a word to the wise, keep posting to this thread, if you want to update people on your blog instead of starting new threads each time.
Don't be afraid to join other threads to ask questions so we can get to know you.
Welcome to the boards.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Good luck with the blog and keeping up with it as school takes over your life. You may want to look at the discussion about the Big Fish in Chicago preview to see how your views are consistent and differ with others. This is the primary discussion, but there have been a few other threads. Big Fish Discussion
