MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET resumed performances yesterday, July 28, at New World Stages after closing on Broadway on June 12, 2011. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET played nearly 500 performances on Broadway and won a Tony Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award, and received Tony nominations for Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical, a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Musical Revue and three Drama League nominations including Distinguished Production of a Musical and two Distinguished Performance nominations. 2010 Jonathan Larson Grant Winners Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond celebrated the release of their new album Out of Our Heads: The Music of Kooman and Dimond yesterday, July 18th with a one night only concert at Birdland, produced by MNA Entertainment Inc. Medal of Honor recipient Sergeant First Class Leroy Petry and his family attended Mary Poppins, their first Broadway show, Sunday in New York City. Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins) welcomed Petry onstage to an appreciative roar from the matinee audience. Upon Petry's Medal of Honor presentation ceremony on July 12, 2011, he became the second living recipient of the award for actions occurring since the Vietnam War. The Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical returned to Broadway on July 5 at the St. James Theatre and officially opened last night. The 10-week only ‘Summer of Love' run will conclude on September 10, 2011.

Yesterday at a press conference in front of Broadway's St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street), Broadway Impact co-founder Rory O'Malley (2011 Tony Award® nominee) announced that several same-sex couples from the Broadway community will get married onstage at the St. James Theatre on July 25 immediately following that evening's performance of HAIR. These unions will be among the very first in New York State, following the landmark bill recently passed by state legislators. Yesterday, June 27, 2011, Daniel Radcliffe was honored by The Trevor Project with the Trevor Hero Award during 'Trevor LIVE' at Capitale, presented by ING. The annual show benefits the life-saving work of The Trevor Project and also honored Ernst & Young LLP with the Trevor 2020 Award.

Stella is a Star and so is Bernadette Peters, who, if all goes to plan, will be seen back on Broadway later this summer in FOLLIES. As part of the Animal Tales Extravaganza at the Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo, Bernadette Peters read and signed her latest children's book, Stella Is A Star to audiences at the zoo on Saturday, June 25. Following the reading, Bernadette sang Broadway Barks, an original song from her first children's book of the same name.

On Friday, Theatre for a New Audience broke ground on its new home in a city-owned parking lot in the growing BAM Cultural District, located at 262 Ashland Place bet Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street in Brooklyn. Set to open in April 2013, the Hugh Hardy-designed, 27,500-square-foot building will house a 3-level 299-seat theatre, a rehearsal room, public lobby and various supporting spaces, providing a state-of-the-art venue for the theater company's interpretations of Shakespeare and classical drama. It will be the first permanent residence for the 32-year-old theatre company, the first classical theatre built in New York City in more than four decades and only the second new theatre to be built from the ground up in Brooklyn in more than 50 years.

LCT3's production of 4000 Miles, a new play by Amy Herzog, directed by Daniel Aukin, opened last night, June 20 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project.
