BroadwayWorld has just learned that choreographer Lorin Latarro has joined the creative team for the Broadway production of Waitress. With her addition, Waitress is the first Broadway musical in history where a traditional four person creative team of book writer, composer, choreographer and director have all been women.* Latarro replaces Chase Brock, who choreographed the pre-Broadway run at the A.R.T.

Based upon the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress has a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

"I'm thrilled that Waitress is breaking boundaries as the first Broadway musical with book, score, choreography and direction by a team of women," commented Diane Paulus. "It's a historic and long overdue moment for Broadway, and I'm honored to be working alongside such passionate and inspiring women."

Waitress opens on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue), with previews starting on Friday, March 25, 2016. Waitressplayed a sold out limited engagement at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA.

Waitress stars Jessie Mueller, winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical forBeautiful: The Carole King Musical, with Eric Anderson (South Pacific, Kinky Boots, Rocky, The Last Ship) as Cal, Christopher Fitzgerald (Chicago, two-time Tony Award nominee for Young Frankenstein and Finian's Rainbow) as Ogie, Drew Gehling (Jersey Boys, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) as Dr. Pomatter, Kimiko Glenn ("Orange Is The New Black," Spring Awakening, Love's Labour's Lost) as Dawn, Dakin Matthews (The Audience Rocky, The Best Man) as Joe and Keala Settle (LES MISERABLES, Tony Award-nominee for Hands On A Hard Body) as Becky, with ensemble members Charity Angél Dawson, Jeremy Morse and Stephanie Torns. Additional casting will be announced soon.

Jenna (Jessie Mueller) is a Waitress and expert pie maker stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. Faced with an unexpected pregnancy, Jenna fears she may have to abandon the dream of opening her own pie shop forever... until a baking contest in a nearby county and the town's handsome new doctor offer her a tempting recipe for happiness. Supported by her quirky crew of fellow Waitresses and loyal customers, Jenna summons the secret ingredient she's been missing all along - courage.
