The long battle for thespians at Connecticut's Trumbull High School is at last over, as BroadwayWorld has just learned that earlier today, it was announced that the show will go on. The high school's production of RENT was halted by school administrators at the end of last month, when first-year principal Marc Guarino and the school board decided to cancel the Trumbull High Thespian Society's planned production of Jonathan Larson's hit rock opera.

School Board Chairman Deborah Herbst said: "Without proper planning, Rent, the school edition, has the potential to become a speech rather than a meaningful dialogue."

After many meetings between the administration and Trumbull students/parents, the school gave the 'ok' for the musical to be performed, but on a delayed schedule. The new performance dates would have made it impossible for students to particpate in the show and go on a previously planned choir trip to England. A group of parents were slated to meet with Guarino this morning.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the production will be performed on its original schedule- March 27 to 30. Auditions will be held in early January.

According to the New York Times, Guarino said that the group convinced him with their 'ideas and energy' that the production could be pulled together in time. He told NYT: "We've worked diligently to get this all worked out, and the students have been awesome, with a lot of great ideas about ways to have a wider conversation about the issues raised in the show."

Club President Larissa Mark to NYT: "He told us that in the past few weeks, he has had a lot of meaningful and powerful conversations about the show, and that he posed a lot of questions and got a lot of answers. We're just so happy. All we wanted to do was put on a show that we all cared about."
