Earlier this week, Nick Jonas – the popular singer/songwriter who was most recently seen in the Tony-nominated How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying – served as master of ceremonies as hundreds of students from middle and intermediate New York City Public Schools in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Manhattan made their Broadway debut on stage at the Shubert Theatre, the culminating event of the 7th annual Shubert Foundation/MTI Broadway JR. The long-running Broadway musical LES MISERABLES, based on Victor Hugo's 19th-century French fable of social injustice, will come to the big screen on December 14th. The film, under the direction of Tom Hooper will star Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Sacha Baron Cohen as Thernardier, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Samantha Barks as Eponine, and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier. GODSPELL just welcomed Hannah Elless to the cast on May 22, replacing Lindsay Mendez. Directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific), GODSPELL also stars Corbin Bleu as Jesus, Wallace Smith as Judas, and co-stars Uzo Aduba, Nick Blaemire, Celisse Henderson, Morgan James, Telly Leung, George Salazar and Anna Maria Perezde Tagle. Tony nominee Norm Lewis, currently starring on Broadway as Porgy in The Gershwins’ PORGY AND BESS, joined the legendary walls of Sardi’s when his caricature was unveiled and hung on May 30th, during a special ceremony. His portrait joins the hundreds of Broadway and Hollywood celebrities, including his co-star and fellow 2012 Tony nominee Audra McDonald, as well as co-star David Alan Grier also Tony-nominated for his performance in The Gershwins’ PORGY AND BESS. Roundabout Theatre Company presents the new Broadway production of Mary Chase’s Harvey starring Jim Parsons (Elwood P. Dowd), Jessica Hecht (Veta Louise Simmons), Charles Kimbrough (William R. On May 29, Katrina Lenk joined the cast of Broadway’s SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark in the role of “Arachne”. Christina Sajous, who had played the role of “Arachne”, played her final performance on Sunday, May 27th. Reeve Carney, Patrick Page, and Rebecca Faulkenberry continue in their roles as “Peter Parker/Spider-Man”, “Norman Osborn/Green Goblin”, and “Mary Jane Watson” respectively. ROCK OF AGES will open in theaters on June 15, 2012. The film stars Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, along with Diego Boneta as "Drew," Julianne Hough as "Sherrie," Russell Brand as "Lonny," Alec Baldwin as "Dennis," Mary J.
