It seems too early in the competition for the finalists of American Idol to be so universally outstanding. Sure, last night's performances included both highs and lows, and true I'm attached to some of the competitors more than others. Quite frankly, I find it highly unusual that the top 9 are as polished as they are. Perhaps it's a reflection of the show's new mentors and/or judges?

In other news, as if last week's news of a Casey- Haley romance wasn't shocking enough, the duo has been one-upped by two of their co-stars who have been enjoying some supernatural support. According to many published reports, Paul and Lauren have been getting more than close with Twilight stars Nicki Reed and Taylor Lautner. Fascinating.

Tonight's results show began with a rock medley/mash-up from the Top 9 that included: "I Love Rock and Roll," "The Letter," and "Sweet Home Alabama." No one really stood out vocally, but it was hard to keep my eyes off of Jacob Lusk who was inappropriately dressed in a fuchsia button down and turquoise cardigan, while his co-stars were all decked out in neutral-colored rock garb. What was that?

The weekly Ford music video was followed by a clip of Russell Brand's visit to the Idol set, in which he gave some comical tips on loosening up and giving memorable performances. Soon after, they went behind the ladies' styling session with Gwen Stefani.

Season four alum and past Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis didn't disappoint with a rockin' interpretation of "Unchained Melody." Miss seeing Mr. Maroulis on stage? Check out BroadwayWorld's favorite Constantine performances here!

Tonight's bottom consisted of Stefano, Pia, and Jacob. I'm neither bothered nor surprised by Stefano and Jacob making the list, but Pia in the bottom three?! I'm outraged. As if that news wasn't disturbing enough, Iggy Pop then took the stage to sing "Real Wild Child." If ever a performance was inappropriate for the Idol stage it was this one. Dancing around like a maniac shirtless, he was no less than terrifying.

Ryan then revealed that Pia had the least number of votes this week- yet another disturbing case of viewers not voting for the best because they assume that they're safe. The audience was appalled; the judges were dumbstruck.  Never has there been such injustice since JHud was prematurely kicked off the show. This was absolutely absurd- she was easily season ten's best singer. Looks like I'm going to bed angry tonight. And another one bites the dust.
